We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications and Marketing Manager to join our team at our Head Offices in Abergavenny. Due to the nature of the role, we are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Penarth, Barry, Porthcawl, Neath, Usk, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanfoist, Bristol, Chepstow, Pontypridd.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Communications and Marketing Manager will lead on all communications and marketing activity for Griffiths to align with our vision and values.

On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the Communications and Marketing Manager will include the following (not exhaustive):

  • Developing and implementing Griffiths’ communications and marketing strategy
  • Advising, influencing and supporting the leadership team whilst creating, delivering and shaping our activity to grow the business, and position Griffiths as the leading civil engineering specialist across the South-West, Midlands and Wales
  • Carrying out activities to protect and enhance Griffiths’ brand and reputation as well as ensuring we impact positively on society and the communities in which we work
  • Supporting the business to win repeat work with its existing and previous clients
  • Designing, delivering and implementing a robust and integrated communications and marketing strategy that underpins Griffiths’ goals and values
  • Ensuring high-quality and consistent delivery of communications activity and materials
  • Providing leadership, direction and support for colleagues across the business and in all aspects of the marketing and communications function
  • Identifying opportunities in the news agenda as well as developing relationships with journalists to secure media coverage
  • When required, delivering media and communications training to senior team members and other senior stakeholders

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a Communications and Marketing Manager who is experienced in the following:

  • Extensive marketing and communication experience; ideally at a senior leadership level
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills
  • Proven experience and practical knowledge of modern strategic communications
  • Exposure to public relations and marketing activities along with an understanding of digital communications and marketing strategy
  • Strong IT skills and in particular, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

Although not essential, having an understanding of heavy manufacturing or the Construction Industry would prove to be beneficial
