We have a fantastic opportunity for a Vehicle Technician to join our team at our Head Offices in Abergavenny. Due to the nature of the role, we are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Penarth, Barry, Porthcawl, Neath, Usk, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanfoist, Bristol, Chepstow, Pontypridd.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, the Vehicle Technician will be based in a workshop environment carrying out repairs, services, inspections, preventative maintenance and carrying out diagnostic and dealing with technical data on cars and light commercial vehicles.

On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the Vehicle Technician will include the following (not exhaustive):

  • Maintaining a good relationship with dealers and suppliers
  • Ordering parts and obtaining technical data
  • Using hand tools, power and pneumatic tools and other work equipment safely to carry out daily tasks
  • Working safely and abiding by health and safety requirements
  • Carrying out point of work risk assessments or method statements before each task
  • Taking instructions from the workshop manager
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy
  • Moving vehicles around the yard and workshop safely
  • Continuation of training in support of the role

For this role you must hold a full UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points – we will not unfortunately be able to consider candidates without this

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a Vehicle Technician who can demonstrate the following:

  • Having a recognised qualification in the field of vehicle mechanics
  • Experience in working in a vehicle workshop environment
  • Experience with working with vehicles both maintenance and repair

Although not essential, having a first aid certificate would be beneficial in your application as would having an IOSH certificate.
